Three days ago all of us brought in a new year. Out with 2015 and in with 2016. Some of us did it with Champagne flutes clinking and others a new show on Netflix. No matter how you chose to spend December 31, 2015, at midnight we all said farewell to one year and welcomed a new one. For me, a new year is a new list of possibilities. I love that. I love that we are given a new chance each and every twelve months to allow ourselves to embrace a new change. It’s good.
This year, my husband and I attended a fantastically fun game night at a dear friends home. We played card games I’ve never played before, ate new to me foods that were AMAZING, and laughed the night away with both new and dear friends. I even met a real Prince this year, and he and his soon to be bride were incredibly sweet and so fun to be around. I’m not sure my evening could have been more perfect.
Usually each year I make a list of goals that I want to accomplish over the course of the next twelve months. This year, I didn’t do that. Instead, I wanted to focus on a small few things and allow myself to work through them on a month by month basis.
So, what does that mean? That means that each month I will pick something that I want to do each day for 20 minutes, for the whole month. Then, when the next month comes around, I will give myself the freedom to change what I want to do or to keep it the same for the next 30 days.
This month, I chose spinning on my little Turkish drop spindle.
I realized that I hadn’t picked my spindle up at all the previous year, and I wanted to change that. So this is my first twenty minutes of spinning I finished Friday afternoon after Lydia and I recorded our latest podcast episode. I am so in love with it. I love the color, and how sweet it all looks just like this. It’s perfect.
I’m using a braid of Yarn Love Juliet Roving. It is 4oz of a 75% Merino and 25% Nylon blend in the Scintillating Sari Colorway. It is drafting beautifully and is a complete joy to work with. I will definitely be spinning some more of this in the near future!
SO, I’m curious. What are your goals this new year? Is there something that you would love to push yourself to do for twenty minutes every day? I would love to hear if there is.
Until next time,
